How is it the end of June already! Well I will say this month has been a roller coaster for me. I was pretty down for a while and I got a nasty spider bite that made me immobilized for a few days. Everything kinda felt like it was falling part but I knew I was going to be okay. I also took a lot of time educating myself and finding more black creatives and brands to interact with. I’m actually really excited because I already ordered some products and there more I really want to try! I also found a lot of black creatives that I absolutely love. I didn’t really promote my last monthly favorites because it didn’t feel appropriate at the time. It’s still there and available to read. I have some pretty cool ideas coming up for my blog so stay tuned!
Kristin Ess’s Dry Finish working Texture Spray
I was so excited to try this out. I have oily hair and it’s flat. When I braid my hair or do cool updos, you can’t tell because it just falls completely flat. I wanted to use a texturizing spray to give it more volume, and this did that and more. It has the wonderful signature Kristin Ess smell; it also gives you a nice light hold. I also love to use it on my second-day hair as a dry shampoo. Yes, you read that right. Dry Shampoo. I’ve never had luck with dry shampoos, but this made my hair less oily and volumized it a lot.
Ever since I’ve tried their rosewood blush I was really interested in this brand. I was also interested in a newer concealer I can alternate with the glossier one. I was pleasantly surprised with Conceal to Reveal because it comes with 3 different coverages:
1 - SHEER Formula: Dewy Coverage for All Over and Highlighting
2 - MEDIUM Formula: Full Coverage for Under Eye Circles and All Over Coverage
3 - OPAQUE Formula: Total Coverage Concealer for Blemishes + Tattoos
I used this everyday for my dark circles and it covers them completely. I will say the shade ranges could be better for darker complexions. This shade is a little too tan for me, but I can still work with it.
I also tried their Unfoundation Glow Tint which was actually amazing. It made my skin feel like it had a blur imperfections filter on my face. It evened out my skin tone, looked natural, and gave my skin a nice glow. The color is a little too tan, but I mix it with my other colourpop tinted moisturizer and it’s perfect. I am in the shade Caramel Medium!
I also tried their Water Bronzer in Blaze, it’s a very interesting concept. The bronzer is very easy to apply and easy to blend with just your fingers. It’s a deeper red tint in this and I honestly love using this to contour my nose! I see how they are “minimalist” brand. Everything is very effortless and easy to use.
I was in desperate need of a nice volumizing mascara. I have stick straight lashes. I love the brush on this mascara, it reminds me of the L’oreal one I used to always use, but that’s not cruelty free! I use this every day and while my lashes are still pretty flat, it adds length and volume and it makes me happy wearing them! I also think I need a new eye lash curler, so we’ll see how that works better!
I’ve been loving my new pressed flower nail art but I needed a good top coat and a nice creme color! I was super excited when I heard about Nailtopia Plant-Based, Bio-Sourced Nail Lacquer in Créme de la Créme and Top of Your Game (clear coat). The polish glides on very nicely and dried quickly. I was very impressed with the creme color, I originally thought it was going to be sheer but the color really pulled through after the second coat. It top coat is pretty basic and easy to use
I have a new video on my Youtube channel where I show you guys how I do my nails and my first impressions on the nail polish! Check it out!
I was so excited when this finally came back in stock! I wanted to try another sunscreen so I can alternate between the others. i know with summer here, my other sunscreens might be sold out or backordered. What I love most about this is how nice it goes on the skin. It feels moisturizing and doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin. It’s ingredients contain beet root extract and antioxidants to fight against the free radicals so you don’t turn “beet-red”. I would def recommend this to everyone and the price isn’t too bad either!
Last but not least is the new cruelty-free nail polish remover! The Ella Mila Soy Polish Remover is a very interesting product. It has a milky feel to it, and I will say, you need to have patience when removing the nail decals with this, however, when removing color, you’ll be just fine. You want to saturate a cotton pad with remover, wipe all nails FIRST, and allow remover to absorb in each nail for at least 20-30 seconds, then, wipe each nail until the polish is off. It feels very nourishing and not drying at all, unlike some other removers.
That’s all I have for this month. The next month might be chaotic for me because it’s my last month in Long Beach and I won’t be trying anything new until Kevin and I move to our new place *a mystery still but a fun one* Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hope you all still stay safe and well. Blessed be xoxo
