Golden Gate Park Date
After months of working on weekends, I finally had a Sunday off. I told Kevin I really wanted to go to San Francisco and really got inspired by @fashionbyally on Tiktok when she shared her Row Boat Date idea. The last time I was in SF was for Outsidelands to see Lana Del Rey and Guns N Roses at AT&T Park. We had one day of exploring, and when I was little, I have tons of pics at SF but never really never entirely took it in.
So we left around 9 A.M. to go to San Francisco. The drive was lovely, and we hardly hit traffic. The only thing that concerned us the most was parking. Parking in LA was always a drag, and in SF, I can’t even imagine. After doing some research, I found this map online to help with parking, and basically, we drove around to find a free spot. First off, I never realized how BIG this park was. This place was huge, and I only had two destinations in mind, to be honest, because we had to drive back to Davis. Alas, we didn’t find much parking on a Sunday in the morning; later, I realized that it was free parking all day, so we were lowkey doomed from the start. However, we were able to find a parking garage underneath the De Young Museum. It was $25 for four hours.
Stow Lake
As I mentioned before, I was inspired by @fashionbyally and her rowing date. We stopped by Stow Lake Boathouse and signed up for a 1-hour rowboat ride. It’s $24/hr. I wanted to take cute pics, AND I’ve never rowed before, so I was like this would be a cool place to learn. Kevin started out doing it first, but then I wanted to take the lead, and I really liked it! It also felt like a nice workout. There was a beautiful waterfall and a gorgeous stone bridge that was hidden away. I saw another group of people chilling in the shade with drinks and food, and I thought that would be cool to do too on the little boat! There were lots of ducks, geese, and turtles, and all were friendly! Stow Lake is quickly done in one hour, but if you bring some snacks and want to chill, I would suggest two hours just in case.
Conservatory of Flowers
After we were done rowing, we walked to the Conservatory of Flowers. Never heard of the place, but I was like, why not! It was a $12 entry; however, with my CSULB student ID that I still carry, it was only $7-seriously, keep those student IDS; they will never expire and could come in handy for discounts. ;)
This place was a plant lover’s dream. Warning it’s humid af because they have to keep the plants hydrated! It was so interesting to see all the different types of plants, though. I told Kevin I wanted to start having my own plants at the apartment, but there are some plants that aren’t good for cats and dogs, so I thought, mmhmm, maybe not. This was still very interesting and beautiful. There are some plants you can buy inside too. When we went in, we were told to touch anything, and let me tell you, Kevin, and I just kept looking at all the plants we wanted to touch! It was a lot of fun and definitely a great place to visit if you’ve never been. You also must always have your mask on!
After we walked around, we developed an appetite and decided to grab some Korean food at UM.MA! It was a perfect walking distance. I ordered the tofu Bibim-banh mi, Kevin ordered the Korean Fried Chicken, and we split the Kimchi Fried Rice. I would give this place a 7/10. It was pricy, but the food was decent. My favorite was the Kimchi fried rice. The Banh mi was okay, had too much mayo, and Kevin devoured his wings. We walked down to Shakespeare's Garden, which was so beautiful and quaint. It was a perfect way to end the day and head back home!
Outfit details:
At first, I was going to wear a dress to be major cottagecore vibes, but I checked the weather, and it was going to be 68 degrees. If you know me, you know I’m always cold, so I thought hmmm, better not. I grabbed this Topshop blouse (no longer available) and these old navy jeans that I absolutely adore and mentioned in my previous monthly favorites video. I wore these white sneakers as I knew we were going to walk a lot. I had my sunnies from Madewell (no longer available), my purse my friend gave to me, and my warm farm cardigan from AndThenLB.
