Dodgers Game in SF

Hello! Oh, how I’ve waited for this day for sooo long! This past Sunday, we took a trip to San Francisco for a Dodgers vs. Giants game! My boyfriend and I are from LA and longtime Dodger fans. We were sad that we couldn’t experience a Dodger game during COVID or even celebrate the World Series win in LA when it did happen. It was Kevin’s birthday that week, and we decided to go to a Sunday game. We slept over at his brother’s apartment in SF to help with traffic and also for a little birthday dinner! It was lovely and quality family time is exactly what we needed.

There are actually many reasons why I really like the stadium. For one, the accessibility! We were able to park on the street and just walk over. Sorry, Dodgers stadium, they got you beat on that. It was a 10-minute walk, and we were right at the stadium. Our game was the first game where they didn’t require guests to bring their vaccination or negative Covid results. So going in was really easy and no fuss at all! We got there perhaps 30 minutes early, and we walked the entire stadium before the game! There were delicious food and beer selections, in my opinion. Between Kevin and me, we did garlic fries, pizza, and a couple of beers. It wasn’t that expensive, but it’s good to note that you can bring food into the park!

In my opinion, the weather in San Francisco is very confusing; it can be hot but still really cold at some point. AGAIN, I’m not a local, but I knew I had to be warm but stay fresh, so layers! I wore a linen top, my dodgers hoodie, and my absolute favorite jean jacket that I thrifted off depop. I wore simple black jeans, my favorite pair of white sneakers, and topped them off with my white dodgers hat. Towards the end of the game I was feeling a little chilly as the wind kept coming in but still survived! I was a little hesitant to wear lots of dodger gear because I honestly didn’t want any trouble. Still, I sucked it up and just wore it, and nothing terrible happened. In fact, I called the Grand Slam out loud, and a giants fan was friendly and joked around afterward. Another fan let me go in front of her to order food, and I felt more comfortable at the stadium.

Overall the experience was so much fun! I missed being at sporting events and just being with random strangers in a sense. What I loved most about going to games was being around other fans and enjoying each other’s company while watching a team we loved. While half of the fans weren’t for the same team, I think we all enjoyed feeling a sense of normalcy for a moment.
