Allison’s May Favorites
Hello everyone, so as I’ve stated before, we’re doing things a little differently from now on! I’ve been trying to merge my old blog to this website, but I think I have too many posts so I’ve kept it up with my older website name and I’ll keep it alive for as long as I can. Moving forward…I wanted to do a quick blog post on my monthly beauty favorites for you all. I also wanted to make a quick note…given the political and cultural climate, I want to take a moment and share a link where you can help aid the Black Lives Matter movement. This is the best link I could find that provided accurate resources and I want to remind you that this is ongoing conversation we should have between our communities. I encourage you all to educate yourselves and help in any way you can. xx
Versed Skin’s Guards Up Daily Mineral Sunscreen SPF 35
I was super excited to see another skincare brand that I love conjure up a sunscreen! As you know, sunscreen is the most important skincare step and having a decently priced sunscreen isn’t easy to come by. I’ve tried two so far, so I was excited to have another option. The pricing is at $22 which is not a bad price. This was better than paying $36 for the same amount of product. It’s a a reef-safe UVA and UVB protectant you can wear everyday! When I applied it it was smooth and easy. It has a peachy tint to it and there is no white cast on my skin, however, my face did look a little but lighter. I wasn’t sure if that was because I didn’t blend it all the way, although I’m sure I did, or if the peach tint leaves a subtle color. In the long run, I like to use this underneath my makeup because it almost feels like a tacky primer-the good kind of tacky- and it does the job! Thats the important part. I love that this sunscreen protects you from environmental stressors AND devices-who knew! Overall loves it!
The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
I first heard about this cleanser from Sean Garrette and was very intrigued by the consistency of the product. It’s a cream/balm like consistency that turns into an oil after massaging the product. It gently removes your makeup and easily washes off- a big plus. I like to use this as a pre-cleanse because it doesn’t strip moisture away and easily washes off. I find some oil cleaners are harder to rinse with water-obviously because science- but this one is easy! The price is a big plus too- 7 dollars is a steal.
YTTP:
Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial
I was really excited to try this facial mask. Sean Garrette highly recommended it so I had to try it out. I love are the ingredients! It has papaya and pineapple which, in most mask, are beneficial to break down dead skin cells. The sustainable micro-exfoliants are also a plus but it's not harsh on the skin. It's also high in antioxidants and contains aloe to help prevent redness and irritation. It didn't feel rough on the skin and I would say it feels like the Kate Somerville facial.
YTTP: Superberry Hydrate & Glow Face Oil
This was another products that was recommended by Sean and I've been wanting to try it for a while now. What intrigued me was, again, the ingredients, it provides the perfect amount of hydration and felt my skin feeling smooth and moisturized within the first use. I also loved that it absorbed quickly. I mainly use it at night in my last step of my skincare.
Colourpop Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer
This is another product I’ve been wanting to try and I’m so impressed with it! For starters, it’s a tinted moisturizer, so the coverage is light. This makes my skin look like it has the blur effect on, it’s my skin but better. My pimple/scares aren’t as noticeable and it evened out my discoloration. The color I got was a tad bit too light for me, but was easy to work with when you add blush and/or bronzer. I applied with a beauty blender and it was easy to blend.

Flesh Swipe Flesh Lip Color
When I was buying the tinted moisturizer from Ulta I was browsing through other products and found this on sale! So I said why not-treat yourself- it was originally $24 and it was on sale for $6-hello?!? a steal I was excited to try it because it looks like it could provide the perfect wash of color on my lips. I got the color Swollen (a warm berry). I line my lips with a neutral lip liner and lightly dap this with my finger. The color pay off is nice and it lasts for a good while. It’s definitely nice for a no makeup/minimal makeup look.
Pressed Floral Garden Nail Decals
I was sooooo intrigued by these nail art decals. I’m not big on doing my nails, I do them myself to make them look nice and that’s it. I loved the idea of these and loved pressed flowers, so I really wanted to try these out. This now my go to nail look. They’re pretty easy to apply. Start with a light base color-I did a nudey-pink-and then followed the directions. I can do a more in depth post on this late on because I had to order more! Just look at how beautiful they look-cottagecore aesthetics ya tu sabes.
VESCA Beauty’s Soft Sun Radiant Skin Primer and Luminzer
I was super excited to receive this gift from VESCA Beauty after using their amazing bronzer. It’s nice and lightweight and it doesn’t feel greasy at all. You can use it underneath makeup or alone for a nice subtle glow. I apply it all over my face for a nice glow beneath my makeup. I also apply it on the highpoint of my cheeks as a highlight. It’s versatile and easy to use. My personal favorites are first blush and sunrise.
